Pinterest: What Is It and Why You Need It

When most people think about Pinterest, they think about recipes, house improvement DIYs, and inspiration. However, it is an untapped social media marketing resource.

Pinterest is one of the largest visual search engines. Users can search for new products, brands, tips and tricks, and more. It’s a great resource for driving website traffic and boosting online sales.

Creating posts, called ‘pins,’ is extremely easy; you can create and edit them on the Pinterest app and website. There are also many tips and tricks to help you get started. Every Pin includes an image or video, plus a link to your site or store. You can create videos to show off features of products or share tutorials.

There are multiple ways for users to discover and save new pins. The home feed shows new pins each time it is loaded. These featured pins are recommended based on pins that they saved previously. Users can also use keyword and visual searches to find similar or tagged pins. The final way to discover new pins is through related pins. These can be viewed by clicking on a favorite and scrolling down, or will load in the feed near a recently saved pin.

Pin Tips

  • Create new content regularly. For a steady stream of content, a new Pin should be created and posted at least once a week.
  • Schedule your Pins for optimal days and times. Pinterest has a scheduling tool you can use if you don’t already have a social media publishing software. (We use Hootsuite to schedule all our social media posts from the same website.)

Online Reviews: 5 Reasons Why You Need Them

As the digital world becomes a larger part of daily life, consumers turn to the internet for recommendations. They turn to search engines and review websites for suggestions on restaurants, vendors, businesses, and more. Customers can leave reviews for businesses and their products or services. Potential customers use these reviews to decide which business

Benefits of Online Reviews

  • Reviews help your company establish an online reputation. In fact, one of the worst things a business can do is ignore their online reviews and social posts. The biggest mistake of all a company can make is not participating in helping to shape the conversation about their company online.
  • Poor reviews give you the opportunity to identify what needs improving and to learn and develop from your weaknesses. You can see where your business is falling short and remove common roadblocks in the customer journey. There is always room for improvement!
  • Positive reviews can also be extremely eye opening and helpful. They showcase your strengths, from employees who rock at customer service to favorite products or services. Sharing these “wins” with your employees will boost morale and make them feel appreciated.
Sharing online reviews is easy for customers and beneficial for your business.
  • One of a marketer’s main goals is to improve click-through rates (CTR). A 2017 study showed 56% of consumers click on businesses with online reviews. Have the cashier or receptionist remind customers to leave a review. Or, set up an automated email to be sent a day or two after their visit and ask them to provide you with feedback.

  • One of the most obvious benefits of reviews is how they help build trust with potential clients. By engaging with negative and positive reviews online, your conversations become public. Searchers will see these exchanges between you and past customers, and they will feel confident that you care about your clients and their experience.

What About Negative Reviews?

The key to making negative reviews benefit your business is how you handle them. Poor reviews are a great opportunity for reps or managers to follow up with customers to determine what can be done to make it right. They can be used to craft personalized responses geared to specific problems. This makes your customer service team appear more invested in your customers’ goals, which results in fewer negative reviews and increased customer retention.

Online Review Sites

There are many websites you can use to collect customer reviews. The top sites for reviews for any type of business are Google My Business, Facebook, Yelp, BBB, Yellowpages, and Your Own Website. When you receive an exceptional review, feature it on your website and share it on your social media. You should be proud of the great work you are doing and celebrate it. Don’t just pat yourself on the back; make sure your followers and potential clients know how happy current customers are.

Fresh Content: The Importance of Updating Social Pages

Your social pages are living entities, and should change and grow accordingly. While the popular saying “Content is King” still rings true, fresh content always perform better. There are many benefits to posting fresh, new content on a regular basis. Each content update affects how users and search engines interact with your pages. Fresh, engaging content will bring new visitors to your site and keep old visitors coming.

Keep Your Audience Interested

Internet users rely on websites and social pages to provide interesting, up-to-date, and relevant information. Users develop a sense of loyalty to the websites they visit on a regular basis for this information. However, loyalties will shift if the website is not updated regularly. Keep current subscribers updated, and provide information to convert new visitors to customers. Even modifying existing content will give your website the deserved freshness.

Using an RSS feed updates subscribers each time new content is published to your website. Audience engagement helps in developing long term relationship with users and securing returning traffic, adding value to your site.

Of course just publishing new articles and photos does not necessarily ensure your site will build the kind of loyal readership that reliably returns day after day. The fresh content has to be valuable in the eyes of the visitor, meaning it is informative, entertaining, and unique.

Your audience can view content on your social pages from any device.

More Traffic to Social Pages

Provide useful, insightful information about your industry and people will engage with your company and share your posts. This will ensure people are talking about your brand and visiting your website.

More Indexing of Content

Search engines use web crawlers to “index” a site based upon a number of algorithmic factors determined by the search engine company. For instance, a site may be indexed based on the number of incoming links to the site, number and type of subject keywords used, and how often a site is updated. The more frequently you update your website, the more frequently a search engine will index your website. This means you’ll have more opportunities to achieve higher rankings based on the content. Static websites are those that don’t have frequent changes, and are considered dead or stale by search engines.

Review how well each social page did on a regular basis.

Organic Keyword Optimization

When you update your site on a regular basis, you create opportunities to utilize organic keyword optimization that will result in an improved position in the search results. Fresh content improves keyword optimization since you can include the best, most relevant keywords to boost your website’s rank. Place keywords naturally on relevant pages to drive keyword optimization and SEO.

Be an Authority on Content

The end goal for every company should be to become the “Industry Authority”. Companies become an industry authority through a loyal reader base and high search engine results. Reaching this status requires frequent updates in addition to fresh content along with exceptional organization. As an authority figure, you and your company stand to benefit a great deal from the improved credibility that accompanies this newfound position as an expert or authority on a particular subject.

Add informative, valuable content on your website related to your industry and your website will enjoy greater authority potential. The more authority you have on a subject, the more likely customers are to purchase from you. Social media platforms are a great place to begin building authority on a topic. Learn more about how Beeman can help you tackle social media and website management by clicking the button below!

Instagram is a visual medium so you need to create visually compelling content. This can include behind-the-scenes posts, quote/text-based images, instructional posts, and videos. Once you’ve created your content, you need to write great captions. The caption should be relevant, entertaining or informative, compelling, and on-brand. You can also include hashtags, which increase your visibility and discoverability.

Search Instagram using hashtags and handles.

Instagram Stories are great for encouraging follower interaction. They can include polls, reactions, videos, and products. Followers expect stories to be rawer than posts on your feed. They are visible for only 24 hours, but you can extend this by creating highlight albums. Highlights show up right under your bio and provide potential followers with information about your business and why they should follow you.

Engage with others and they will engage with your posts more. Respond to comments on your posts and interact with popular accounts in your niche to make yourself visible in a non-promotional way.

In 2020 social media is part of nearly everyone’s life in one way or another. Thanks to smartphones, people can access their social media from anywhere at any time and connect with people across the world. Many people turn to social media when looking for recommendations and reviews for businesses. How is Twitter Helpful?

Connect with a younger audience. While most Facebook users are seniors, 63% of Twitter users are between the ages of 35 and 65. Diversify your marketing efforts and reach a different audience than you do with Facebook or print marketing efforts.

Keep the discussion going. Twitter allows for conversational, casual, and quick interactions. Using specific hashtags for a series of tweets helps people track conversations and topics. This is helpful for promotions or events. Followers can find information easily in one place by following the related hashtag.

Reach beyond your followers. Sometimes using a common hashtag can drive interactions with your tweets and generate leads. For example, if your practice publishes a motivational post each Monday, add #MotivationalMonday to the tweet. The tweet will then appear on the feeds of your followers and people who follow that hashtag.

Direct traffic to your website. Not only can tweeting build awareness of your practice, but it can also make the content on your website more accessible and sharable.
